TODD

RICHARDSON

AUTHOR

Greetings, fellow travelers of the imagination,

I am Todd Richardson, a purveyor of the fantastical and the horrific, a weaver of dreams and nightmares. Within the pages of my novels, I invite you to journey into realms where the mundane meets the extraordinary, where the veil between worlds is thin, and where the darkness holds sway.

My LATEST BOOK

THE BOY WITH A HUNDRED EYES

The idea for the story came from playing with my young son in the woods. I was struck by how nimble his imagination was, jumping from a comic book setting to science fiction, to fantasy, Arthurian legend, Greek mythology. And wherever he traveled, he was a powerful adult, not a little kid.

Synopsis:

Zeke wasn’t expecting much excitement, staying with his cousin Alina and her parents for the summer. But then he found an eerie tree stump in the woods, and met a mysterious kid, and acquired a crystal disk from a golden frog. He found himself transported to distinct realities, adopting an array of fantastic identities – a superhero, a space ranger, a valiant knight, a warrior of ancient Greece, a faerie prince, and many more. But as Zeke and Alina try to understand the strange worlds and alternative selves they’re experiencing, a common thread emerges. Wherever they go, a Dark King is building his strength and extending his reach. The cousins face the impossible task of defeating him in every realm, knowing if they fail the Dark King will soon turn his attention to their own homeworld

blood appeal

N. Merritt Price practices law and drinks blood. It takes great care to keep a secret like that. He doesn’t kill his prey – not out of moral qualms, but because drained corpses attract attention. He works from his home office, writing appeal briefs at night and letting his law partner handle the court appearances. But it’s time to change his identity again, he’s been Price too long, and no matter how reclusive his lifestyle someone will notice eventually he never ages. When he’s retained for a massive appeal with a potential fee in the tens of millions, he sees his opportunity for one last victory and money to start over as someone else.

But nothing is easy. A succubus appears in town and leaves a trail of drained corpses. If that weren’t enough, a band of self-appointed vampire killers joins in the hunt and picks up his trail. As the appeal heats up and the consummation of his legal career inches closer, the net tightens and the instinct grows to escape while he still can.

GARETH A LIVING NIGHTMARE

A modern gothic tale about a gargantuan deputy sheriff's descent into a nightmare. This wildly original yarn delivers classic horror with the added dimension of a legal thriller, a city erupting into madness, the silent pale Liverpool who snatches trick-or-treaters, and at the eye of the hurricane the unforgettable hulking Gareth, whose rigid code of control breaks down as his appetite grows more insatiable.

quick chills

The concept is a theatrical presentation in a television drama format featuring four distinct stories with supernatural and horror themes. A narrator will introduce each segment and provide epilogue commentary. There will be a theme song performed by a live band at or near the beginning of the show, with musical interludes between the segments. The production will emphasize multimedia effects, lighting techniques and stage movement for atmosphere and visual flair, without reliance on elaborate sets or props. The goal is to provide pop culture appeal through creative visuals and music, going for genuine chills as opposed to spoof or self-parody.

PROMETHEUS NOW

Frankenstein reoriented. A business that stores cryogenically preserved human heads sells its inventory to a private laboratory trying to transplant a human brain into a robot body. The researcher, after some trial and error, finally succeeds. The creature is mechanical but for the organic brain, vaguely human shape but not close in appearance, except a 3D scan of the head is embedded as a holographic image in its face plate. At first there is pain, disorientation and panic, it escapes and, shunned and feared by those it encounters, runs somewhat amok. The researcher recaptures, imposes security measures, treats as an experiment rather than a person. It escapes again, is sheltered by a prosthetics support group or advocacy organization, who accept it with human dignity and even a ray of hope for a promising line of research. The creature has a built-in computer integrated with its cognitive functions, and as the mind evolves undertakes to provide itself with a proper face and actual skin, to restore the humanity and sensation missed the most. Ends with a last encounter with the researcher, who finally tracks it down again in a snowy wilderness, and now faces a superior being.
